My Picks: Tarte Birthday Week

Tarte is one of my favorite beauty brands, so I would have been remiss not to join in on their birthday week celebration. If you subscribe to their mailing list or follow them on social media, then you already know that they are offering a range of amazing deals all week. Yesterday, they discounted their legendary shape tape concealer–today, they are offering up to 70% off select products, including best sellers and top-rated items. So, in honor of (and not sponsored by) tarte, listed below are my favorite and most-wanted products. Some are on sale today, and for the ones that aren’t, keep checking back in case they are featured later in the week.

  1. Shape tape concealer: This is a no-brainer. Pretty much the entire beauty community has fallen under the sway of this creamy, full-coverage concealer, and I am no exception.
  2. Maracuja oil: This light-weight, moisturizing oil is an essential for me in the dry fall/winter months.
  3. Tarteist creamy matte lip paint: I’m generally not a fan of matte lip products because my lips are quite dry, but this creamy formula works well for me.
  4. Amazonian clay 12-hour blush: I don’t remember which shade I have (will update later), but it’s been my go-to for a while.
  5. BB tinted treatment 12-hour primer SPF 30: I love wearing this by itself on those no-makeup-makeup days (like today!) for light coverage. The SPF 30 is a major plus for me.
  6. Amazonian clay 12-hour highlighter: I have this in the shade Stunner, which is perfect for a subtle, lit-from-within glow.
  7. Quench lip rescue: I haven’t tried this yet, but have been eyeing it for a while as a lover of moisturizing lip products. Also, the packaging is beautiful!
  8. Tartelette in bloom clay palette: One of their classic, most-loved eyeshadow palettes.
  9. Rainforest of the Sea radiance drops: This is another product I’ve been eager to try, especially since the more expensive and much-hyped version by Marc Jacobs didn’t work out for me.

So, what are your favorite tarte products? I know I’m missing a ton of good ones–let me know in the comments below!

My Picks: Express 40% Off Sale

Update 10/12/17: The sale is back on through Oct. 15th, in case you missed out!

Express is one of those hit-or-miss brands for me. I have a few things from there that I adore, but it’s not uncommon for me to walk into one of their stores (or peruse their website) and leave empty-handed. A lot of the time, the pricing seems unreasonable to me. Enter: the 40% off sale. This amazing (and surprisingly common) deal gets you a discount on almost everything, including new items, and therefore always grabs my attention. The promotion ends tomorrow, October 9th, so if you’re looking for a quick wardrobe update, check out my top picks below.

My Top 5 Fall Wardrobe Essentials

I love a good excuse to shop–the changing of the seasons definitely tops that list of excuses. Plus, fall attire is my favorite seasonal attire to shop for. Read on to discover the top 5 pieces I’m coveting this year.

1. Black straight-leg jeans

Farewell, skinny jeans–I’m moving on. Gone (for now) are the days of wriggling into jeans so tight that I feel like I’m suffocating from the waist down. Ok, I’m being a bit dramatic, but seriously, straight jeans are in and my legs could not be happier. I like the edgy vibe of these Cheap Monday jeans I found on ASOS.

2. Check blazer

The check blazer has been blowing up all over my social media feed in the wake of fashion month. For a couple weeks now, I’ve been eyeing this particular piece by Anine Bing. The price is a bit beyond my budget but so far I haven’t found a more affordable version that I love quite as much (if you have any suggestions, please share!).

3. Sock ankle booties

Emina Bootie

If you’re on the hunt for a sleek shoe appropriate for fall that will slim and elongate your legs, these Steve Madden booties may be just what you’re looking for!

4. Camel coat

The camel coat is a classic and timeless piece that can be worn year after year. I’m loving this simple yet elegant version by Topshop.

5. Satin slip dress

Mirabella Slip Dress

The satin slip is another trending style of late. This versatile piece can be easily dressed up and down and layered for cooler days. By the way, I discovered NA-KD fairly recently, and I’m in love. If you haven’t heard of them, go check out their website!

Step Into Fall in the Hudson Valley

Fall is finally here! It’s the season of wonderful things, such as spiced cider, pumpkin pie, jack-o-lanterns, colorful leaves, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and the list goes on. In the fashion world, it’s the season of cozy knitwear, boots, and bold makeup. To celebrate the start of the new season, my boyfriend and I drove about an hour north of the city to the Wilkens Fruit and Fir Farm in Yorktown Heights, where we entertained ourselves with wine tasting and scenic strolls and indulged in apple cider donuts.

I kept my outfit simple, not wishing to overdress for the occasion. Since we would be both in the car and on our feet for a while, I opted for a pair of “mom jeans” from Zara–a steal at $39.90. The loose fit of these jeans make them ideal in terms of comfort, plus they lend the outfit an effortlessly chic vibe. I paired the jeans with my reliable and timeless black ankle booties from Bass.

The star of the ensemble is a blush pink, knit sweater with a cut-out v-neck. I picked up this affordable gem at Forever 21–the color, slouchy fit, and texture are simply perfect for the beginning of October, when the weather is just starting to cool down.
